What is hot press sintering? Where are hot press sintering applied?

Time:2024-02-26 12:41

Hot Pressed Sintering is a sintering method that involves filling dry powder into a model, and then applying pressure and heating from a uniaxial direction to complete both molding and sintering simultaneously. The characteristic of this method is that heating and pressurization are carried out simultaneously, making the powder in a thermoplastic state, which helps to facilitate the contact diffusion, flow and mass transfer processes of particles. Therefore, the forming pressure is only 1/10 of that of cold pressing, while also reducing the sintering temperature and shortening the sintering time, thereby resisting grain growth and obtaining products with small grains, high density, and good mechanical and electrical properties. In addition, hot pressing sintering can also produce ultra-high purity ceramic products without the need for sintering or forming aids.

What are the steps of hot pressing sintering?

① Mixing: Mix the required powder raw materials evenly according to a certain formula to ensure that the final product has the required ingredients and properties.
② Forming: Fill the mixed powder raw materials into the mold and apply appropriate pressure to form the desired shape of the green body (the original form without sintering).
③ Sintering: Sintering the green body at high temperature to cause diffusion and bonding between powder particles, forming a dense grain structure.
④ Hot pressing: Applying additional pressure during the sintering process to improve the density and strength of the material.

What industries are hot press sintering used in?

① Ceramic manufacturing: used to prepare various ceramic materials, such as alumina, silicon carbide, silicon nitride, etc.
② Metal processing: used to prepare metal alloys, hard alloys, steel, etc.
③ Composite materials: used for preparing metal ceramic composite materials, metal metal composite materials, etc.
④ Electronic materials: used for preparing ceramic substrates, packaging materials, etc.
⑤ Tool manufacturing: used for preparing hard alloy cutting tools, cutting tools, stamping molds, etc.

What are the characteristics and advantages of hot press sintering?

① High density: Hot press sintering can prepare materials with very high density and dense microstructure, thereby possessing excellent mechanical properties and wear resistance.
② Precision molding: Products with complex shapes and precise dimensions can be achieved through mold forming.
③ Wide adaptability of raw materials: various powder raw materials can be used, including metals, ceramics, composite materials, etc.
④ High processing efficiency: The process is simple, the production efficiency is high, and high-quality products can be produced in bulk.

summary

Hot pressing sintering is an important material preparation technology with advantages such as simple operation, low cost, and mature technology, which is widely used in the preparation and processing of various materials. It is also an important powder metallurgy process that achieves high-density, high-strength, and complex shaped product preparation by processing powder materials under high temperature and pressure conditions.Click to learn more hot pressed furnace!
