Powder sintering in a rotary tube furnace is a complex and delicate process, which mainly includes the following steps:

1. Powder preparation
Preprocessing: The powder that needs to be sintered is subjected to pre-treatment steps such as drying and sieving to ensure that the quality and particle size distribution of the powder meet the sintering requirements. For example, in an experiment, the powder is first added to 2% paraffin wax as a molding agent, and then placed in a drying oven at 65 ℃ until the powder is completely dried.
Compression molding: Place the pre treated powder into a mold for compression molding. During the pressing process, it is necessary to control the pressure and holding time to ensure that the density of the powder compact after pressing is uniform, without delamination or cracking. After successful pressing, the density of the powder compact is uniform, which can better achieve complete densification through sintering methods.

2. Sintering operation
Equipment setup: Place the pressed powder compacts into a rotary tube furnace. The design of a rotary tube furnace can provide uniform heating and cooling processes to ensure the quality and performance of sintered materials. Meanwhile, the high-temperature resistance of the furnace makes it suitable for sintering high-temperature materials.
Atmosphere control: During the sintering process, it is necessary to control parameters such as sintering temperature, atmosphere, and time. The rotary tube furnace can be filled with various gases, such as protective gas, reducing gas, etc., to meet the needs of different sintering atmospheres. For example, in an experiment where a sample is prepared by sintering in an atmosphere of argon gas as a protective gas, the tube furnace is first evacuated, then argon gas is introduced, and the argon gas flow rate is maintained during the sintering process.
Sintering program: Set appropriate sintering heating rate, holding time, and cooling rate according to the requirements of the sintered material. During the sintering process, the rotating function of the rotary tube furnace ensures that the material is uniformly heated inside the furnace, thereby improving sintering efficiency and quality. For example, in an experiment where the sintering heating rate is set to 100 ℃/min, the graphite mold rapidly heats up to 600 ℃ within a few minutes, and then continues to heat up according to the heating curve. After sintering is completed, it is cooled in the furnace and removed.

3. Post processing and detection
Cooling: After sintering, allow the sintered body to cool naturally in the furnace or cool to room temperature with the furnace.
Sampling and testing: Open the furnace door, take out the sintered body, and perform necessary sampling and testing work to evaluate the quality and performance of the sintered body.

4. Operation precautions
There should be no flammable materials or gases around the working environment of the rotary tube furnace to prevent safety accidents caused by ignition during high-temperature operation.
Before using a rotary tube furnace, its sealing should be checked to ensure the stability and safety of the atmosphere inside the furnace.
When using a rotary tube furnace, be careful not to exceed the temperature limit to avoid damage to the equipment and sintered body.
It is strictly prohibited to open the furnace door during the operation of the rotary tube furnace to prevent heat loss and atmosphere damage.
It is not allowed to use a rotary tube furnace for experiments with corrosive substances to avoid corrosion and damage to equipment and sintered bodies.
